ARTWORK CARE
OIL PAINTING PROTECTION
Oil paintings are protected with varnish.
ARTWORK BEHIND GLASS
Original oil paintings should not be placed behind glass as it needs to breathe.
Prints, however, are ok to place behind glass.
SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE
Best to avoid direct sunlight as it can fade or damage the piece. Also if you put your art in a room with a lot of light you can lose the benefit of the beautiful colors and light that comes from the piece.
HUMITIDITY
Original art is oil on canvas. Oil paintings are durable but humidity can cause the wood frame to move causing some warping in the stretched canvas. If this happens don’t worry. Just tap the wooden keys (back of frame) gently further into the chassis. A light midst of sprayed water on the back of the canvas also works as it will retighten the canvas as it dries.
CLEANING AND DUSTING ORIGINAL ART AND PRINTS
Canvas oil paintings and prints can be dusted easily with a lint-free cloth or dry feather (or microfiber) duster. Best not to rub or wipe the piece with your hands. Smudges may be removed gently wiping the canvas with a clean damp cloth.
