Alors que nous vivons une époque sans précédent avec Covid 19, j'essaie de maintenir un certain niveau de normalité.

Rien de tel qu'un nouveau tableau pour motiver. Depuis le printemps, je suis occupé dans l'atelier à élargir mon portfolio avec 5 nouvelles peintures.

Publications, une nouvelle chaîne! Avec des contraintes imposées par Covid 19 concernant les expositions d'art, j'ai été ravie d'être invitée à contribuer à quelques publications dont l'International Thoroughbred Magazine, édition spécial "sur l'art équin et la créativité (juin 2020) et, actuellement, une revue présentée dans Le Mag Art & Design automne 2020. C'était formidable d’avoir une autre avenue de présenter mes tableaux.

Les événements d’art.  J’ai fait la 2ème Expo d’Arts Équestre avec le photographe équin, Cedric Mion, à la Galerie 39 (Barbizon). C'était formidable de voir des amis, de faire de nouvelles connaissances et de faire quotidiennement des démonstrations de peinture en direct qui ont abouti à «Groovy Jumper». Dans la région de Barbizon / Fontainebleau, vous allez voir mes peintures à l'huile exposées au CSI Fontainebleau Summer Tour, stand CWD au Grand Parquet (6 sept), des peintures d’équitation western au Bo Ranch Futurity Competition, La Chapelle La Reine (9-13 septembre), et certains de mes tableaux de saut d’obstacles au concours Barbizon Jump Bost (12-13 septembre). Il y aura également des expositions plus formelles de mes peintures à Art Show Paris VII, L'Espace Bastille Design, Paris 75011 (13-15 septembre) et à la Galerie Thuillier, Paris 75003 (9-22 Oct).

Autumn Newsletter [🇺🇸*]

While we live in unprecedented times with Covid 19, I try to maintain a certain level of normality.

Nothing like a new painting to motivate. Since the spring I have been busy in the atelier broadening my portfolio with 5 new paintings. I also have two additional oil paintings in the pipeline, one of which is for my dad who is celebrating his 90th birthday this year!  

Publications, a new channel! With the lockdown/Covid 19 constraints on art shows, I was delighted to be invited to contribute to a couple of publications including the International Thoroughbred Magazine, Special issue on Equine Art & Creativity (June 2020) and, more recently, in Le Mag Art & Design Review Autumn 2020 issue. It was great to have this additional medium to showcase my work.

Latest on art events. I have just wrapped up the 2eme Expo d’Arts Equestre with equine photographer, Cedric Mion, at Galerie 39 (Barbizon). It was great seeing friends, making new acquaintances, and to do daily live painting demonstrations that resulted in “Groovy Jumper”. In the Barbizon /Fontainebleau region, a few of my oil paintings have been/will be on display at CSI Fontainebleau Summer Tour, CWD stand at Le Grand Parquet (6 Sept), western art paintings at  Bo Ranch Futurity Competition, La Chapelle La Reine (9-13 Sept), and some of my jumpers on display at Barbizon Jump Bost national horseshow (12-13 Sept).

There will also be a more formal presentation of my paintings at Art Show Paris VII, L’Espace Bastille Design, Paris 75011 (13-15 Sept) and at Galerie Thuillier, Paris 75003 (9-22 Oct).

“Le Belvédère” is a wrap

[🇺🇸]  “Le Belvédère” is finished. I have walked down Rue de Belvedere (Gordes) so many times. I cannot count how many photos I have taken coming down that path: the colors and the perspective are always different especially across the four seasons. It is called the Rue de Belvedere for good reason with a beautiful scenic view of the Luberon mountain range in the distance: not visible in this scene but it will surely pop up in some future painting that I do!

Confinement brings new artistic inspiration and, for this painting, some punchy yet delicate colors to feed the palette.

[🇫🇷] Un nouveau tableau est sortie, « Le Belvédère ». J’ai marché dans la Rue de Belvédère (Gordes) tellement de fois. Je ne peux pas compter le nombre de photos que j'ai prises en descendant ce chemin: les couleurs et la perspective sont toujours différentes surtout au fil des quatre saisons. Elle s'appelle la Rue de Belvédère pour une bonne raison avec une belle vue panoramique sur la chaîne du Luberon au loin: non visible dans cette scène mais elle apparaîtra sûrement dans une future peinture!

Le confinement apporte une nouvelle inspiration artistique et, pour ce tableau, des couleurs sont puissantes mais avec des nuances délicates pour nourrir la palette.

Newsletter du printemps [🇫🇷]

Un petit bonjour rapide. Cela fait un certain temps depuis mon dernier blog. Jusqu’à il y a peu de temps, j'étais occupée à des expositions d'art et à créer de nouveaux tableaux. Récemment, tout a changé. Le monde a été bouleversé avec les règles, soit d'auto-isolement soit d'obligation légale à rester à la maison avec des exceptions limitées et, malheureusement, nous avons pu avoir des membres de la famille et / ou des amis affectés par le coronavirus. J'espère que vous allez bien et êtes en sécurité.

En France, pendant la période de confinement, j'utilise ce temps pour me concentrer sur ma famille et produire de nouvelles peintures. Je suis incertaine sur ce que les deux prochains mois nous apporteront… alors je vis au jour le jour. J'avais prochainement un salon d'art en mai, mais je crois qu'il y a peu de chance qu’il soit maintenu. Ceci est juste une petite note pour vous faire savoir ce que je fais… que vous ayez ou non vu sur mon compte Instagram / Facebook (JCWFlowercreations).

Suite au Salon des Artistes Français à Art Capital en février 2020……

Nouveau tableau “Promenade Dominicale".  Nouveau tableau “Promenade Dominicale".  J'ai réalisé une peinture à l'huile sur toile "Promenade Dominicale" 90x90cm. Inspirée d’une photo de Laurent Bouxière, j'ai voulu capturer le calme et la beauté d'une promenade matinale en forêt, que ce soit à pied ou à cheval. Pour moi il véhicule de bons souvenirs avant le confinement que j'ai vraiment appréciés avec ma fille et nos chevaux dans la belle forêt de Fontainebleau qui borde l’endroit où je garde mes chevaux.

29 Feb-8 March 2020 Biennal Salon « Art Animalier », Saint-Pierre-Les-Nemours. J'ai été ravie d'être l'une des 43 artistes sélectionnés pour ce bel événement biennal. Ce fut une merveilleuse occasion de converser avec d'autres artistes, de rencontrer le public et de offrir également une « démonstration en direct » d'une nouvelle peinture à l'huile. Ce devait être mon dernier événement artistique externe avant le confinement.

Et pour la ensuite, car il y en aura une? J'ai quelques peintures dans le « pipeline » couvrant différents sujets car cela m'aide à occuper mon esprit ailleurs (par exemple : au bord de la mer). J'ai également une demande spéciale pour le 90e anniversaire de mon père qui est actuellement sur le chevalet. La sélection de différents sujets à peindre aide également à étendre l'utilisation de mes couleurs pour minimiser les livraisons à domicile grâce aux fournisseurs d'art qui opèrent en ligne.

Spring Newsletter [🇺🇸*]

A quick hello. It has been some time since I last blogged. Up until recently I was busy with art shows and creating new paintings. Recently that all changed. The world has turned upside down with rules, depending on where you live, of either self-isolating or required by law to stay at home with limited exceptions and sadly we may have had family and/or friends effected by Coronavirus.  I hope that you are safe and well.

In France and while in lockdown, I am using this time to focus on my family and develop new paintings. I am not sure what the following couple of months will bring … taking it one day at a time. I had an art salon coming up in May 2020 but believe there is little chance of that happening. This is just a little note to let you know what I have been up to …that you may or may not have seen on my Instagram / Facebook accounts (JCWFlowercreations).

Following the Salon des Artists Francais at Art Capital in Feb 2020…

New artwork “Promenade Dominicale".  I completed a 90x90cm “Promenade Dominical” oils on linen painting. Inspired by photo by Laurent Bouexiere, I wanted to capture the peace and beauty of a morning walk in the forest, whether on foot or on a horse. It is something that I enjoy with my daughter and our horses in the beautiful Fontainebleau forest that borders onto where I keep my horses. 

29 Feb-8 March 2020 Bi-annual “Art Animal” Salon, Saint-Pierre-Les-Nemours. I was delighted to be one of 43 selected artists for this lovely bi-annual event. It was a wonderful occasion to converse with other artists, meet the public, and also provide a “live demonstration” of a new oil painting. It was to be my last external art event prior to lockdown.

So what next? I have a few paintings in the pipeline covering different subjects as it helps me take my mind elsewhere (like the beach). I also have a special request for my father’s 90th birthday, which is currently on the drawing board. The selection of different subjects to paint helps extend the use of my paint colors to minimize art supply shipments to my home thanks to my art suppliers that are operating online.

“Winter Light, Gordes”

“Winter Light, Gordes” 81x65cm oils on linen painting is finished. First of 2020. Started it in 2019 to do something a bit different with my favorite village to capture a typical impression when we were there during winter with the cooler light set off by the deep blue sky. I never got around to finishing it because of other more immediate paintings to do/finish so finally found the time now to put on the final touches. It is nice to change it up from time to time to capture special moments amongst nature …and without a horse in it!

The 45th Salon Art et Matière 91 will be held from Saturday 25 January – Sunday 2 February across 5 locations near Fontainebleau featuring different artists / artistic style and format. The exhibiting hours and the details for the various vernissage are noted below.

Salon des Artistes Francais / Art Capital 2020: selectionnée

Very pleased to announce that « Blue Coat » 81x65cm oils on linen painting was selected by the jury of the “Société des Artistes Français” for their 230th Salon as part of Art Capital 2020 to be held at the Grand Palais from 12-16 February 2020 (vernissage by invitation to be held on Tuesday 11 February 2020).

Autumn 2019 Newsletter

Since end of summer it has been pretty busy with a couple of art expositions, a new painting and weekly training at the stables / attending a few showjumping competitions so  thought it was a good moment to share what I have been up to lately. 

Recent art expositions

First I wanted to say “thank you” to those of you who were able to make it to my Art Equestre Expositionwith Cedrio Mion at Galerie 39 (Barbizon 77630) in early September. I enjoy exhibiting my artwork at Galerie 39 as it is a great opportunity to meet new people in a picturesque village and able to paint while at the gallery, which creates interest/intrigue from the street to see painting “live”. I plan to be back there again end of August next year (as in the past 2 years).

Following Galerie 39, I headed over to for my art exhibit at Bo Ranch(La Chapelle La Reine, 77760) for their grand opening and first international reining horse show in mid September. It was great to be a part of their opening events, meet new people, see Quarter Horse breed in full action, and to feel the passion for the sport shared by participants and spectators. It was full of energy in a wonderful state-of-the art setting. It was also a great opportunity for me to take some photos that will be my reference for my next oil painting that I will be starting this week.

Following these exciting events, I have been able to finish the oil painting that I started at the Galerie 39 exposition. “Red Bar”,  a 92x73cm oils on linen painting, is finished and was on display at the CSI international horse show Barbizon this past weekend. It is now back in Paris for final tweeks and varnish.  

So what is next?

I plan on one more painting in advance of my next art exposition at the 9thSalon International Animal Art Paris at Hippodrome d’Auteuil 15-18 November 2019. The painting will be based on my photos taken at Bo Ranch in Sept 2019 and will likely be the last in the equine series as I focus on other subject matter for paintings from December into winter 2020.

"Stop v. 2019" finished

Excited about the new painting just finished as it was a change in focus…painting a subject in a different high-powered equestrian discipline, Reining, in advance of some exciting upcoming art expositions. This is an 100x73cm oils on linen painting of Wimpys Little Colonel. Thank you Cam Essick for the use of the stunning reference photo capturing the 2009 Quarter Horse Stallion / 2013 NRBC Reserve Champion performing the reining sliding stop.  An amazing movement portrayed with an intense splash of color and play on light.
