Final vernissage at Galerie Thuillier, Paris ✨

Galerie Thuillier is closing its doors, and this evening (Tuesday 23 June, 6pm) marks its final vernissage — a special last gathering with Denis and the art community before the gallery’s definitive closure.

I first met Denis in 2020, just after my first Art Capital Paris. At the time, I was still very new in my return to painting, having picked up the brush again in France in 2017.

From the beginning, Denis was a true gallerist — someone who connected artists with art lovers, created opportunities, and offered real encouragement.

That connection has been deeply enriching for me. Over the years, Galerie Thuillier became part of my Paris art journey, and I will sincerely miss Denis’s presence in the Paris art scene.

For this final exhibition, with the theme “pink,” I chose Game On! — a painting that felt right for the occasion. Denis always appreciated my horses, so it felt meaningful to bring one more equine presence to this last show.

A heartfelt moment to celebrate 🎨

 [🇺🇸 I am WAY BEHIND in communication and REALLY sorry about that! I may be off horses following the March accident but been VERY busy in the art studio prepping for two July Art Shows (Galerie Thuillier Paris 3 from 19 July and Galerie 39 Barbizon-77 from 24 July).

Here are 3 new paintings celebrating the beauty of the Paris region with sporting elegance and a fun set of colors. 😊 🎨

The common thread across all 3 paintings? Colorful Beauty in Motion.

1. Versailles à Cheval (100x81cm)… An EPIC project like 5 paintings in one and covering my favorite subjects, horses in 3 disciplines and the vast skies, and Versailles with the Apollo Fountain water feature setting the scene.   As an equine enthusiast, horse owner and equestrian, I could not resist creating this painting being the first in the series. It also includes one of my favorite colors, Williamsburg Cerulean Blue 💙

2. « Rhythmic Flare » (55x46cm) Artistry meets athleticism. Nothing like springtime in Paris with a splash of Eiffel Tower cherry blossoms to put a kick into the air with rhythmic gymnastics. I have always enjoyed gymnastics. When I was young I wanted to be active on the Middle School Gymnastics team. Well that did NOT happen as parents would have NONE of it as they did not want me to break something that could stop my training on piano and violin. It was the same reason why I could not ride horses. Rhythmic gymnastics has that added element (like a ribbon). I love the fluid motion combining gymnastics that makes a pleasure to paint 💫

3. « Aquatic Flare » (55x46cm) … Powerful yet graceful precision flying through air to land with a VERY tiny splash in the water 💦. The synchronized diving with 2 divers is equally STUNNING ! 😀 🌟  It brings me back to the day when I was little learning to dive off the 1m springboard and 3meter platform diving boards with my "coach", my grandfather  ❤️

 Every canvas starts with an inspiration (an idea, a color, a style) but converting that imagery into something physically tangible is a leap. The ideas are there.  I wanted some detail but also have fun. The colors were playing around in my head .. but converting the ideas through color to canvas can be the challenge. Did I capture it or lose it in translation? Too much color? Too much or not enough detail? Also, EVERYBODY knows each of these Paris locations so it is key to get it right.

There was also the challenge of Versailles restoration, which refreshed the real life colors of the Apollo Fountain and the Royal Chapel.

For painting style … I wanted a bit more freedom with less precision and more splashes of color to express a feeling : splendor of horses at Versailles, the playful movement of the gymnast through the ribbon to the Eiffel Tower, and the arc of a diver soaring over the Parisian landscape of the Pont Alexander III connecting Rive Gauche/ Rive Droite of the Seine with the backdrop of the elegant Grand Palais.

Cela fait un moment que j’ai fait un blog. Désolée ! Depuis un bon moment mois j’ai été vraiment occupée entre l’art et mes chevaux que je partagerai avec vous pendant les jours qui viennent. Entre temps je voulais vous faire parvenir ce message au cas où vous seriez dans la région de FONTAINBLEAU dans les prochains jours.

Je suis ravie de faire partie à la QUINZAINE DU CHEVAL organisés par la Médiathèque de Fontainebleau en partenariat avec l'association Fontainebleau Cheval en amont du Printemps des Sports Équestres et des grands concours hippiques internationales (CDI 5*dressage, CSI 5* saut d'obstacles et CCI 3-S complet) au Grand Parquet fin avril. Dans le cadre de la Quinzaine du Cheval mes chevaux sur toile partagent les murs à Médiathèque de Fontainebleau – Espace Culturel de la Charité Royale avec des toiles d’art équin créée par Laetitia PLINGUET.

J’ai hâte à vous revoir 😊. Je serai au Vernissage le samedi 13 avril (12h30-15h) et sur place pendant la semaine du 15 avril avec la peinture in vivo et j’anime quelques Ateliers Les P’tites Peintres pendant la semaine du 15 avril.

[🇺🇸] It has been a while since I blogged. Sorry for that! A lot has been going on with art and the horses which I plan to share with you in the upcoming days but wanted to get this note out to you in case you are in the FONTAINBLEAU region in the upcoming days.

I am thrilled to be part “15 Days Celebrating the Horse” organized by Médiathèque Fontainebleau in partnership with the association Fontainebleau Cheval ahead of Printemps des Sports Équestres of international horse shows (CDI 5*dressage, CSI 5* jumping, CCI 3-S cross country) at the  Grand Parquet end of April. As part of the “15 Days Celebrating the Horse”, my equine art is on display along with fellow equine artist Laetitia PLINGUET.

Would love to catch up with you 😊.  I will be at the Vernissage on Saturday 13 April (12:30-3pm), doing LIVE painting, and leading a couple of art workshops for the little painters during the week of 15 April.  

A wonderful event not to miss in Fontainebleau until 20 April 2024 🐴

The Salon d’Automne Paris 2023/24

[🇫🇷]  Le Salon d'Automne, reconnue d'utilité publique, est créée le 31 octobre 1903 au Petit Palais Paris … une exposition indépendante pour promouvoir l'avant-garde et les idées novatrices de l'époque. Le choix de l'automne comme saison de présentation est stratégique à plus d'un titre : il permet aux artistes de présenter les petits formats réalisés en extérieur au cours de l'été — en se plaçant ainsi à la pointe de l'actualité artistique — et de se démarquer des deux autres grands salons — celui de la  Société nationale des beaux-arts et celui des Salon des Artistes Français — qui ont lieu au printemps (ca va dire, en février). 

Le Salon d’Automne a précipité l’émergence de tous les grands courants artistiques du XXe siècle : Surréalisme, Cubisme, Abstraction, Nouvelle Figuration, Art Singulier.  [🇺🇸]  The Salon d'Automne was created in the basement of the Petit Palais Paris in 1903… an independent exhibition to promote the avant-garde and the innovative ideas of the time. The choice of autumn was strategic: it allows artists to present the small formats produced outdoors during the summer - thus placing themselves at the forefront of artistic news. — and to stand out from the two other major fairs — that of the National Society of Fine Arts and that of the Salon des Artistes Français — which takes place in the spring (February). It has precipitated the emergence of all the major artistic trends of the 20th century: Surrealism, Cubism, Abstraction, New Figuration, and Singular Art. Galerie Thuillier « Prix de la Presse 2023 » Award

Je suis au septième ciel, "Winter Light" a reçu la Mention Spéciale 🏆 à la Galerie Thuillier Prix de la Presse 2023. Vraiment honoré de recevoir ce prix du jury prestigieux.

 Une belle soirée entre des artistes, des galeristes, l’Académie Arts Sciences et Lettres, l’Académie Européenne des Arts France et le public.

Ce petit tableau a été un petit jeu de la lumière. Il y a un sentiment de force et de présence mais calme apaisant et il est disponible.

On peut le voir à Galerie Thuillier, 13 Rue de Thorigny, Paris 75003 jusqu’au 2 mars.

[🇺🇸 I am over-the-moon that "Winter Light" received Special Mention 🏆 at Galerie Thuillier Prix de la Presse 2023. Truly honored to receive this award from the prestigious jury.

 A wonderful evening with fellow artists, gallerists, Académie Arts Sciences et Lettres, Académie Européene des Arts France and members of the public.

This small painting was a little play with light and as one person put it “there is a sense of force and presence yet quiet calm”. Available for purchase.

Animal Art Paris 2022 (18-20 Nov)

[ 🇫🇷]  Animal Art Paris 2022 du Salon International des Artistes Animaliers contemporains reçois près de 7.000 visiteurs à Paris et Bruxelles chaque année. Le Salon est devenu la plus grande exposition-vente en Europe entièrement consacrée à l’art animalier contemporain, avec une dominante faune européenne et faune sauvage (Afrique et autres continents), chasse, chiens, chevaux…  Le Salon se tiendra au Hippodrome d’Auteuil (Paris 16) du 18 au 20 Novembre. [🇺🇸] Animal Art Paris 2022, an international at salon dedicated to contemporary Animal Artists, receives 7000+ visitors at the shows in Paris and Brussels each year. The Salon has become the largest art exhibition in Europe dedicated to contemporary animal art, with wildlife scenes from Europe, Africa and other continents, hunting, dogs and horses. [ 🇫🇷] Galerie Thuillier, située dans le quartier du Marais à Paris, accueillera son Salon d'Automne annuel du 28 octobre au 10 novembre. La galerie est à côté du Musée Picasso Paris. J'y présenterai 10 peintures dont ma nouvelle série de paysages 2022, "Chemin du Bornage" célébrant les 4 saisons dans la magnifique forêt de Fontainebleau : un chemin entre mon atelier d'art et les écuries que ce soit en marchant avec les chiens ou en montant les chevaux. Les couleurs et la lumière changeantes au fil des saisons sont quelque chose de spécial à voir et, avec ces toiles, à vous transporter sur ce charmant chemin… en prenant l'air frais de la nature et en rappelant la nécessité de protéger notre environnement pour les générations futures.

[🇺🇸] Galerie Thuillier, located in the Marais district of Paris, will be hosting its annual Salon d’Autumn from 28 October to 10 November. It is just down from the Picasso Museum Paris. I will be presenting 10 paintings there including my newly completed 2022 landscape series, “Chemin du Bornage” celebrating the 4 seasons in the beautiful Fontainebleau Forest: a path between my art studio to the stables whether walking with the dogs or riding the horses. The everchanging colors and light across the seasons is something special to see and, with these canvases, to transport you to this lovely path … taking in the fresh air of nature and serving as a reminder of the need to protect our environment for future generations.

One time each year,  the AEAF organizes in Paris, for its members of the Academy, an INTERNATIONAL ART SALON. The 2022 edition will be held next week in Paris.

Art & Design Magazine, No. 25 Autumn 2020 (Featured Artist)

[🇫🇷] Le calendrier des événements des expositions d'art étant un peu incertain étant donné les circonstances avec Covid-19, il a été très intéressant d'explorer d'autres avenues. Durant l'été 2020, j'ai eu l'opportunité d'être présenté dans le magazine, « International Thoroughbred ». Maintenant pendant l'automne 2020, je suis un artiste présenté avec mes peintures équins dans le magazine Art & Design, édition n ° 25 de septembre-novembre 2020. Je partage le lien vers le magazine.  [🇺🇸] With the art show event calendar being a bit uncertain given the circumstances with Covid-19, it has been very interesting to explore alternative avenues to showcase my work. During the summer 2020, I had the opportunity to be in International Thoroughbred Magazine. Now during Autumn 2020, it is exciting to have my equine artwork featured in the Art & Design Magazine, Sept-Nov 2020 No. 25 edition. I attach a link to the magazine. [🇺🇸] « Le Petit Salon d’Octobre 2020 » will be held at Galerie Thuillier (Le Marais, Paris 75003) from 9 – 22 October 2020 featuring various artists. on display by diverse artists. Two of my paintings will be on display including “London Calling” 73x92cm oil on linen. I would be delighted to see you at the Vernissage being held on Tuesday 13 October from 6pm.  Masks will be obligatory.

[🇫🇷] Je serais heureuse de vous recevoir au Vernissage Dimanche le 13 Sept à partir de 18h30 pour une présentation des artistes exposants et de nos œuvres ou l’After Work Soirée Lundi le 14 sept à partir de 18h30 pour la remise de prix du jury et du public. La galerie sera ouverte au public du Lundi 14 au Mardi 15 septembre de 11h30 à 17h00.

Pour les soirées, il faut imprimer l’invitation.

[🇺🇸] It would be lovely to see you at the Vernissage Sunday Sept 13 from 6.30 p.m. for a presentation of the exhibiting artists and our works, or the After Work Evening Monday Sept 14 from 6.30 p.m. for the presentation of the jury and the public. The gallery will be open to the public from Monday 14 Sept to Tuesday 15 Sep from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm.  

For the evening events, PLEASE BRING a print out of the invitation.
