Final vernissage at Galerie Thuillier, Paris ✨

Galerie Thuillier is closing its doors, and this evening (Tuesday 23 June, 6pm) marks its final vernissage — a special last gathering with Denis and the art community before the gallery’s definitive closure.

I first met Denis in 2020, just after my first Art Capital Paris. At the time, I was still very new in my return to painting, having picked up the brush again in France in 2017.

From the beginning, Denis was a true gallerist — someone who connected artists with art lovers, created opportunities, and offered real encouragement.

That connection has been deeply enriching for me. Over the years, Galerie Thuillier became part of my Paris art journey, and I will sincerely miss Denis’s presence in the Paris art scene.

For this final exhibition, with the theme “pink,” I chose Game On! — a painting that felt right for the occasion. Denis always appreciated my horses, so it felt meaningful to bring one more equine presence to this last show.

LGCT Cannes 2026 has come and gone - great memories 🎨🐴🌴

It was such an honor to be the Invited Artist & Official Event Partner for the Longines Global Champions Tour de Cannes 2026 — creating original oil paintings for the three CSI2* winner’s prizes, exhibiting artwork across the VIP Espaces and Show Office, and capturing moments around the venue through quick ink sketches and watercolor studies.

And yes — doing it all with a new hat from my favorite hat shop in Barbizon, ArteMilanrio. Thank you, Rolando!

New Cannes-themed painting series

The new original painting series created for the event brought together the energy of international showjumping with the color, movement, and atmosphere of the French Riviera.

Each painting was created to hold a particular sense of movement and presence through Riviera colors. The most challenging element, as a colorist, was how to describe the horse without knowing what color horse the winner would be. I wanted something memorable — using color to suggest any horse, while the Bay of Cannes served as the common thread across all three paintings.

It was a privilege to see the works presented to the winning horse-and-rider combinations and to share this collaboration with the international LGCT community.

The level of sport was extraordinary. Watching the riders and horses move through the arena also reinforced what I wanted the paintings to hold: energy, light, and movement.

… And around the venue…

Beyond the winner’s prizes, it was very special to exhibit a broader selection of my original artwork across the VIP Espaces and Show Office. Seeing my horses on canvas placed throughout the venue created a dialogue between the paintings, the event, and the live atmosphere of international competition.

Art in Motion

I also loved the spontaneous side of the week — sketchbook in hand, moving through the venue, observing the horses, riders, atmosphere, and light. Those quick ink sketches and watercolor studies became another way of responding directly to the event as it unfolded.

So what else?

📣 I plan to release a fourth and final oil painting from the Cannes series. Because this piece was created to remain with me, I chose to hold it back until LGCT Cannes was finished. More soon.

We are now LIVE from LGCT Cannes 2026 🎨🐴🌴

The Longines Global Champions Tour de Cannes is now underway, and I’m delighted to be here as Artiste mise à l’honneur 2026 / Featured Artist as long as one of the Official Event Partners for the 2026 Edition.

After several intense months in the studio, the new original artwork created especially for Cannes has now arrived at the event — with the full reveal still to come — to be shown alongside a selected group of original equine paintings from my studio, brought together for this occasion.

Horses, Art, and the French Riviera. 🐴🎨🌴

Honored to be part of the official partner lineup for the Longines Global Champions Tour of Cannes 2026 (4-6 June) as Artiste Mise à l’Honneur 2026 / Featured Artist.

For the last couple of months I’ve been working on new equine art to be unveiled in Cannes next week. 🎨✨

April - Spring in Motion [News]

April — Spring in Motion

April opened in Versailles at the Biennale Versaillaise, where I exhibited ‘Versailles à Cheval ‘— in the very town that hosted the Paris 2024 Olympic equestrian events and loved catching up with fellow artists and collectors at Carré de la Farine.

Received the official Certificate of Distinction ‘Mention’ issued by the jury of Salon des Artistes Francais at Art Capital, held in the Grand Palais Paris (Feb 2026). What an honour to be selected for this prestigious Paris Salon and the further recognition: a deeply meaninful milestone in my journey since returning to painting in 2017.

As a result, little new work has appeared recently, aside from Chailly Spring (Chailly-en-Bière)—a small painting begun during the Galerie 39 Barbizon exhibition in February. After so many grey winter days, I wanted to bring some sunshine indoors, inspired by the vivid yellow rapeseed fields (colza 🇫🇷) surrounding Barbizon in April 🌼 , with a quiet hidden equine presence for the viewer to discover. 😉

What else?

Following my acceptance into Oil Painters of America at the end of 2025, that artistic momentum has continued into 2026 with my acceptance as a member of Fondation Taylor (Paris). I am very grateful to my two sponsors for supporting my submission to the Foundation’s Committee.

Founded in 1844, Fondation Taylor is one of France’s historic artist institutions, supporting artists through exhibitions, publications, and grants. This marks an important step in my journey as an artist.

March - Momentum [News]

March — Momentum

Following on from an early February — marked by receiving a “Mention” at the Salon des Artistes Français (Art Capital) at the Grand Palais — I took a brief week to recharge with family back home in the Philadelphia region.

I was deeply moved — not only by the jury recognition, but also because that painting was selected for the 236th Le Salon des Artistes Français and featured my mare, El Chrispalina, whom we lost in January 2025. The loss is still raw, yet it felt quietly powerful to see her present in that moment in February 2026.

March arrives with the old adage in mind: will it come in like a lion and go out like a lamb — or the reverse? Either way, I’m choosing momentum.

I’m back in Barbizon. The studio is fully in motion.  A new addition to my week is that I’ve returned to the weights / gym — essential for strength and core when you’re ride at my age with mares who have their own ideas in mind 🚀. Everything is moving forward. 🔥

In the Studio — Building Toward June

I am currently deep into development of a large-scale project scheduled for release in June, alongside several new works evolving on the easel while quietly resolving select 2025 works in the studio

This is not a season for constant documentation. It is a season for depth — time alone with my pigments and brushs — refining, pushing, evolving. That focus defines 2026.

End of March — Biennale Versaillaise

At the end of the month, I will be exhibiting in the juries 7th Biennale Versaillaise in Versailles (March 31 – April 5) and honored to present “Versailles à Cheval” inspired by the summer 2024 Olympics with the equestrian events set in the beautiful grounds of Versailles as the backdrop. That setting — horse, architecture, history — still gives me goosebumps.

2025 Review, Fire Horse Ahead [NEWSLETTER]

Looking back on 2025, I'm grateful for new art, shows, a Morocco residency that broadened my artist perspective, and moments of recognition. Thank you for your continued support, whether you've been here this year or just joined. As we enter the Year of the Fire Horse, I'm energized and ready for new ideas and creativity … with an early heads up about February art events.

2025 in Review

🎨 New Work

2025 was a year of momentum returning. After my accident in 2024 and two major surgeries, I spent much of this year catching up on studio time. I finished a number of paintings, including two Barbizon-inspired pieces created for a Tokyo exhibition (November 2025), along with a number of commissioned works. 

I also completed a four-part series for the Dutch Equine Art Fair (November 2025), which is now back in my studio as part of a broader recalibration. In 2025, I felt a noticeable shift—an urge to evolve, experiment, and refine the direction of my work. That change was influenced by two things: exploring watercolor studies this year, and reflecting on eight years of steady painting. Together, they brought me back to what matters most to me in the studio: paintings of presence, bolder decisions, and emotion carried by color and light.

That spirit of experimentation showed up not only in larger pieces, but also through small-format works for the Paard Verzameld Equine Art Collective one-week challenges—quick studies where I test composition, technique, and style, and often carry discoveries back into the larger paintings.

I’m excited to see what 2026 brings—new pieces, and the completion of a few works still in motion from 2025. Right now, I’m working on my 2026 studio focus around Horses ~ Horizons ~ Light—a guiding thread as new work takes form.

🖼️ Art Events

 2025 art calendar was busy with 12 art events—both juried and by invitation—spanning Paris, Saumur, Amsterdam, and Tokyo, plus two personal shows at Galerie 39 Barbizon. Love these events as a great way not only to share work, but also to reconnect with fellow artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts.

One of the year’s most defining moments was an art residency in Morocco (June 2025). Immersed in the region’s scenery, light, and color, I collaborated with other artists and shifted from oils into watercolor studies—working faster, simplifying, and using light and color to capture the moment quickly was a challenge. It was a genuine creative reset, and it made me think of Turner, Constable, and Sargent using watercolor to stay close to the moment. I love watercolors and want to work a little more in this medium in 2026.

🏅 Awards & Recognition

In 2025, I was honored to receive several awards, including:

• Prix du Public Jeune — Salon d’Automne (Coubron) (November 2025)

• PRIX Arts Majestic — Galerie Montsûrs, AEAF Salon Internationale des Arts (Paris, May 2025)

I also received several awards via international online art competitions throughout the year. I use these competitions to have work visible, challenged, and in conversation beyond my local exhibitions.

I was pleased to end the year with acceptance as a member of the Oil Painters of America. It is an association that promotes excellence in representational art and supports oil painters through juried exhibitions, education, and a professional community.

2026 has already begun at full speed, with February in particular feeling like the artist’s version of corporate busy season (October tends to be the other). From Barbizon to the Grand Palais in Paris, here are a few dates for your diary

From Coubron to Montsûrs, Art Community [Art News]

Hello !

I’m delighted to share that La Grande Exposition Internationale 2025, hosted by the Majestic Gallery Montsûrs just outside Le Mans, opens today — and I’m honoured to be participating as an invited artist in this vibrant cultural event.

This art cultural event arrives just as I close a Le Salon d’Automne 2025, where I had the joy of doing live painting sessions with local schoolchildren. A heartfelt thank-you to the young visitors of Coubron who visited throughout the week for awarding me the Prix du Public Jeune — a recognition that touched me deeply.

These encounters are great opportunities to reconnect with our inner imagination and creativity … not matter at what age.

These two events, side by side, each remind me of why art must be lived …experienced … and shared.

La Grande Exposition Internationale 2025 | Majestic Gallery Montsûrs (5 Dec - 17 Jan)

This Exposition brings together 90 French and international artists, showcasing painting, sculpture, and photography with 225 works of art. Italy is the Guest of Honour, adding a rich cross-cultural element to the exhibition.

I’m very honored to be attending as invited artist following receipt of the PRIX Arts Majestic Galerie Montsûrs 🏆 at the 2025 International Salon des Arts de l'AEAF in Paris (May 2025).

In addition to all the beautiful art there is a FULL program of art cultural activities for all ages : Workshops, demonstrations, and encounters designed to celebrate creativity and welcome everyone into the world of art [December: 6, 13–14, 21, 27, 30 / January: 10]

Late Autumn Art Events [Art News]

Hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of the year! As November and December unfold, I continue to have a vibrant rhythm of exhibitions and studio work that accompany the change of season. 🖼️

The team and the artwork are heading to Tokyo this Friday 21 November ✈️. 2 unique oil paintings were created for this event, one landscape and one equine celebrating the equine form, nature’s insprirations local Barbizon – Fontainebleau Forest that inspired Japanese artists to come over to Barbizon region in the 1800s to explore Western Impressionist Painting style that was then evolving. Le Salon d’Automne 2025 [Paris Art show]

Paris in autumn is always an invitation to visit especially art events including le Salon d’Automne, founded in 1903 … a vibrant celebration of contemporary art.

This year, the Salon takes centre stage right at Place de la Concorde, transforming the heart of Paris into an immense open space for artistic expression. Over 1,000 artists representing 48 nationalities will present their work across 4,000 square metres, welcoming more than 30,000 visitors over five days. It’s not only an exhibition — it’s a meeting place where painters, sculptors, photographers, and collectors share in the energy of the creative world.

Throughout the week, there is a program of cultural events and performances to animate the Salon — reinforcing its mission to make art accessible to all. Every artwork shown is available for acquisition, offering collectors the chance to engage directly with the artists behind each piece.

L’histoire du Salon d’Automne

Le Salon d'Automne est un événement d’art historique à Paris …créée le 31 octobre 1903 au Petit Palais Paris … une exposition indépendante pour promouvoir l'avant-garde et les idées novatrices de l'époque. Le choix de l'automne comme saison de présentation est stratégique à plus d'un titre : il permet aux artistes de présenter les petits formats réalisés en extérieur au cours de l'été — en se plaçant ainsi à la pointe de l'actualité artistique — et de se démarquer des deux autres grands salons — celui de la  Société nationale des beaux-arts et celui des Salon des Artistes Français — qui ont lieu au printemps (ca va dire, en février).  Le Salon d’Automne a précipité l’émergence de tous les grands courants artistiques du XXe siècle : Surréalisme, Cubisme, Abstraction, Nouvelle Figuration, Art Singulier. Later this month, I return to  Le Salon d’Automne at Place de la Concorde Paris for the fourth consecutive year. A historic salon founded in 1903 that remains a touchstone for contemporary art. A special thanks to the jury / President of the Section Figurative to have the confidence in my work. So proud to exhibit alongside other remarkable contemporary artists from around the world.

🖌️ In the Studio — Preparing for Dutch Equine Art Fair Amsterdam 🇳🇱
Between these events, my Barbizon studio has been VERY BUSY preparing for the Dutch Equine Art Fair, that will be held at the Living Horse Museum in Amsterdam (6–9 November) with Paard Verzameld. A very special event in a beautify historic setting De Hollandsche Manege for this unique international event featuring over 30 curated artists from around the world … and entirely contemporary equine art. 🐴

I’m currently creating four large-format oil paintings that explore presence, atmosphere, and connection through the expressive form of the horse. Can’t wait to share these with you soon 🎨

ANAF Salon 2025 [Paris Art Event]

Hello !

I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be at the ANAF Salon 2025 in Saint-Mandé from 25 September to 5 October ! 🎨✨

This show brings together a fantastic array of talented artists. A wonderful opportunity to connect and celebrate contemporary art together!  Just off Paris metro line 1 (10 Place Charles Digeon / Hôtel de Ville). 

I can’t wait to share my passion for the equine spirit in color … and the special story behind this special painting celebrating Burgundian wine heritage 🖼️

The weather has been beautiful to set up my solo art show, Cheval dans l’Art (26 Aug to 7 Sept  2025) celebrating my passion for art and horses. 🖼️✨

There are new paintings, both large and small format.

You’ll find me in front of the easel with LIVE painting in action …for artwork destined for the Dutch Equine Art Fair in Amsterdam (Nov 2025) 🎨 🐴 🇳🇱

It is a great time of year to be at Galerie 39 with equine enthusiasts all around especially given it is also the same time as the French Young Jumper Finals at Grand Parquet Fontainebleau (la Grande Semaine CSO Finales Nationals de Jeunes Chevaux) and the annual Sale of Young Jumpers at Espace Rozier (Les Ventes Fences Elite de Jeune Chevaux.

And as always … it is one of my favorite events in my art calendar to catch up with you.

Summer Colors, Fresh Work and an Invitation [Newsletter]

Hello 👋

Late Spring / Summer has been full of lots of creativity, recognition, and exciting opportunities. I’m delighted to share a glimpse of what’s been happening in the studio and beyond:

🎨 Art inspiration

As I say “Life brings Color, Colors Inspires Art” and the past few months have brought much to my mind as I continue to explore my own art going forward.

The last few months have been full of ART INSPIRATION including a 9-day watercolor art excusion to Skoura, Ouarzazate and Marrekech Morocco with a group of artists led by Patricia Cabillon. It was a very special experience to explore new ways to see light and color via watercolor. I plan to share a full account of this trip with you in upcoming weeks but here is a little photo snip-it.

After the visit to Morocco, the remainder of June was spent on a family trip to the United States 🇺🇸 before returning to France 🇫🇷 in July …. filled with horses shows in Fontainebleau and near Deauville … and art studio time prepping for a VERY BUSY Autumn including artwork scheduled November art events: Galerie Kubota (Tokyo, JAPAN 🇯🇵) organized by Denis Cornet Galerie THUILLIER Paris and the Dutch Equine Art Fair organized by Paard Verzameld at Living Horse Museum Amsterdam 🇳🇱.  

🖼️ New Art

Since my last newsletter, I’ve been busy in the art studio working on new oil paintings and wrapping up several commissions … and completing a few pieces for the 1-week art challenges organized by Paard Verzameld’s International Equine Art Collective that are always a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to explore different styles and techniques to EVOLVE as an artist.

As I like to weave traditional Representational style into Impressionist atmosphere …. I feel there is still a way to go 🎨 .  I’m using opportunities like art exhibitions in Tokyo and Amsterdam to push the creativity out further.    

📣 Stay tuned for a little email in the very near future revealing the two paintings series destined for Tokyo (November 2025).

🏆 Recognition
In the past few months I was honored to receive the PRIX Arts Majestic Galerie Montsûrs at the International Salons des Arts Paris organized by the Académie Européene des Arts-France (May 2025).  I was then delighted to also receive awards from LightSpaceTime International Online Art Competitions in June and July: 10th place Overall/6th Place Painting Category & Special Recognition (“Cityscapes”), and Special Recognition (“Summer”).

The summer also brings my annual solo Equine Art Show at Galerie 39 Barbizon. Last year it was held in July coinciding with the Paris 2024 Olympics. This year, I’m returning to end of summer timeslot falling during the Grande Semaine de Jeune Chevaux Finales CSO at Grand Parquet, Fontainebleau featuring new work. Can’t wait !!

Galerie Thuillier Paris [July Art Event]

Summer Art Show, 11-24 July 2025 (Vernissage, Tues 15 July 6pm)

Hello !                                                                                                   

Since my return from Art Trip to Morocco and family trip home to the US that took up most of June … I’ve been busy in the art studio wrapping up commissions and new paintings for upcoming art events. Later this summer will be sharing my “Morocco carnet voyage” in watercolors but in the meantime wanted to let you know that I’ll be at a vernissage in Paris next Tuesday.

The next art show … which is HAPPENING NOW …  is at Galerie Thuillier in the Marais, Paris 3. The vernissage is this next Tuesday 15 July (6-9pm)  🖼️✨

3 paintings will be on display including my new 2025 Fontainebleau Forest landscape oil painting and two smaller format artwork that have never ventured outside of Barbizon before now.

I’m looking forward to catching up with old friends and connect with fellow art lovers and celebrate the magic of creativity and new art!    … and hope it will not be too hot ☀️

I’m DELIGHTED to have been selected for the 42nd International Salon des Arts organized by the Académie Européenne des Arts France (AEAF) to be held from 22-25 May at Galerie Nesle.

I can’t wait to see “Winter Stroll” and “Left Lead” at Galerie Nesle, a beautiful venue in the heart of the Paris 6 arr. with a fantastic ceiling that dates back to 1602!

Flying into Holiday season!

I hope you are doing well. Since my last email, Salon d’Automne 2024 hosted by the town of COUBRON (93) has since finished and have lots of wonderful memories of the week. It was very special to the Guest of Honor (‘invitée d’honneur’) but what I LOVED most was sharing my world as an artist with students of local schools. Even with some snow challenges ❄️ still achieved to do a full day where I met with 6 different groups of students with lots of intrigue and questions !! 😀 Some of them where as tall as me …not difficult right? 😂. Here are some photos of the week.

December so far has been very busy wrapping up

• 2 new painting releases

• 1 Paard Verzameld Collective December Equine Art Challenge (released Sunday evening 8 Dec)

• Launch of 2 E-Shops (USA 🇺🇸 & Europe🇪🇺), and

• 1 Marché de Noël Barbizon 14 December.

The Marché de Noël will be my first and would be lovely to seeing you !! Santa Claus will be there along with holiday snacks and vin chaud, a horse-drawn carriage and local artists including myself. I can’t wait to share some exciting new art goodies for people of all ages and budgets.
