Bonjour. Things are always happening over at jflowerart so wanted to keep you in the loop as to what I have been up to since the June Newsletter … and to share some art calendar dates. Hope to see you again soon.

Médaille de Vermeil of Académie Arts-Sciences-Lettres in recognition of my artistic contribution : the Academy is an Association under the high patronage of the President of the Republic FRANCE.  

Special Recognition Award, LightSpaceTime international online art competition “Patterns”, for the oil painting “Megeve 2023”.

2023 Printemps Été/ Spring Summer Newsletter

Depuis ma dernière newsletter, les derniers mois ont été très chargés… des expositions d'art, des voyages artistiques en Bourgogne et aux Pays-Bas, des événements à Barbizon… et… de nouvelles peintures à l'huile en cours, d'autant plus que presque toutes les peintures à l'huile de 2022 sont parties dans de nouvelles maisons. Ah OUI ! Un été chargé… des concours hippiques, des tableaux à l’huile en cours et des expositions d'art aux Pays-Bas, à Barbizon et à Paris.

Ah YES! A busy summer … horse shows, artwork in progress and art exhibitions in The Netherlands, Barbizon and Paris. ]

Après une saison d'expositions d’art d'hiver réussie… il y a pas mal de tableaux en cours dans l'atelier d'art pour les expositions d'art à venir ainsi qu'une série de commandes et de créations artistiques dans le cadre du Collectif Paard Verzameld, qui se vendent comme des petits pains ! Voici un extrait de nouvelles illustrations récentes.

D’autres nouvelles / Other exciting news:

En plus d'avoir remporté le Prix de la Presse Mention Spéciale Galerie Thuillier 2023, j'ai récemment été promu membre de la prestigieuse Société du Salon des Artistes Français en 2023 (section : peinture). Un moment très fier pour moi de faire partie de la Société et de son Salon (plus de 300 ans d'histoire) suite à la sélection par le jury d'une de mes tableaux à l'huile équins pour Le Salon dans le cadre d'Art Capital, Grand Palais, Paris (2020, 2021 et 2022).

[ 🇺🇸  In addition to winning the Galerie Thuillier Special Mention Prix de la Presse 2023, recently, I was promoted to member of the prestigious Society of the Salon des Artistes Français in 2023 (section: painting). A very proud moment for me to be part of the Society and its Salon (300 years+ deep in history) following jury-selection of one of my equine oil paintings for The Salon as part of Art Capital, Grand Palais, Paris (2020, 2021 and 2022).]

Autumn 2022 Newsletter [francais]

Bonjour! J'espère que vous vous portez bien. Un petit moment a passé depuis ma dernière Newsletter !

Un petit récap sur les événements artistiques

L'année 2022 à ce jour a été très chargée avec des spectacles équestres, de nouvelles peintures et des expositions d'art. C'était la 3e année consécutive que j’ai était sélectionnée pour le Salon des Artistes Français - Art Capital au Grand Palais Éphémère en février. J'ai également apprécié d'être sélectionnée pour le Salon International des Arts de l'AEAF à Galerie Nesle (Paris 6e) où j'ai reçu le Prix de la Galerie Rive Mauve. Mai m’a apporté un nouvel élément « d'art qui voyage » avec la Journée d'Inspiration avec Paard Verzameld Collective avec des croquis en plein air dans le style de l'art équin au centre de retraite De Paardenkamp (Soest, Pays-Bas). De là, certaines de mes peintures ont voyagé à la Wien Art Fair - Vienne, Autriche (mai) et à la Paard Verzameld Storytellers' Expo aux Pays-Bas (août).

C'était agréable de terminer l'été, comme d'habitude, en accueillant ma Galerie 39 Barbizon Expo Arts Equestre annuelle, qui a vu quelques-unes de mes peintures partir aux États-Unis, au Royaume-Uni et en France 😊

Récap sur les créations printemps-été

L'atelier était en feu (au sens figuré) au cours des derniers mois, c'est pourquoi récemment j'ai eu besoin de faire une petite pause. Alors, quoi de neuf? Série de paysages 2022 consacrée au "Chemin du Bornage - Forêt de Fontainebleau (2 sur 4 achevés), quelques peintures à l'huile équines, des créations artistiques en lien avec les épreuves artistiques du Paard Verzameld Collectif, et deux commandes.

Vous êtes à Paris en automne ? 3 manifestations artistiques parisiennes. Ce serait un plaisir de vous voir !

• Le Salon d'Automne 2022 Paris 19e (20-23 oct), La Grande Halle de la Villette accueillera cet événement prestigieux chargé d'histoire depuis 1903. je suis honorée que ma toile de paysage 2021 a été sélectionnée ! [Vernissage le 20 octobre]

• Salon d'Automne, Galerie Thuillier, Paris 3e (28 oct-11 nov) J'apprécie vraiment cet événement annuel - un emplacement idéal à côté du musée Picasso avec un conservateur adorable ! Je dévoilerai ma série de peinture de paysage 2022 "Chemin du Bornage - Forêt de Fontainebleau" [Vernissage 20 Nov]

• Animal Art Paris, Paris 16e (18-21 nov) Je reviens à l'Hippodrome d'Auteuil avec de nouvelles peintures équines. Une belle période de l'année avec les magnifiques couleurs automnales au bord du bois de Boulogne.

Et les prochaines oeuvres ?

Le plan dans l’atelier est vraiment interessant … des paysages dans le cadre de la série "Chemin du Bornage 2022", des tableaux à l’huile de cheval, des commandes et des creations artistiques font dans le cadre de Paard Verzameld Collective.

Autumn 2022 Newsletter [english]

Hello! Hope you have been well. It has been some time since the last Newsletter!

A little recap on art events

2022 to date has been very busy and exciting with horse shows, new paintings and art shows. It marked the 3rd year in a row to be selected for Salon des Artistes Francais – Art Capital at the Grand Palais Ephemere (Feb 2022). I equally enjoyed being selected for the AEAF Salon International des Arts (Galerie Nesle, Paris 6th) where I received the Prix de la Galerie Rive Mauve. May brought a new element of “art that travels” with the Paard Verzameld Collective Inspiration Day with plein air sketching equine art style at De Paardenkamp retirement center (Soest, The Netherlands) . From there some of my paintings travelled to the Wien Art Fair - Vienna, Austria (May) the Paard Verzameld Storytellers’ Expo - The Netherlands (Aug).

As usual, I always like to end the summer hosting my annual Galerie 39 Barbizon Expo Arts Equestre , which saw a few of my paintings go to new homes in the US, UK and France 😊

Recap on Spring-Summer artwork

The atelier was on fire (figuratively) in the past few months, which is why recently I needed to take a bit of a break. So what is new? 2022 landscape series dedicated to “Chemin du Bornage – Fontainebleau Forest (2 of 4 completed), a few equine oil paintings, art creations in conjunction with the Paard Verzameld Collective art challenges, and two commissions.

What next?

•  The Salon d’Automne 2022 (20-23 Oct), La Grande Halle de la Villette will host this prestigious event seeped in history dating back to 1903.  My 2021 landscape painting was selected!    [Vernissage 20 Oct]

• Salon D’Automne, Galerie Thuillier, Paris 3rd (28 Oct -11 Nov). I really enjoy this annual event –a great location next to Picasso Museum with a lovely curator! I will unveil my 2022 landscape painting series “Chemin du Bornage – Fontainebleau Forest”    [Vernissage 20 Nov]  

• Animal Art Paris, Paris 75016 (18-21 Nov). I will be back at Hippodrome d’Auteuil with new equine paintings. A beautiful time of year with the gorgeous autumnal colors on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne.

And the Art Pipeline?

 The Art Plan to December is an exciting mix of landscapes as part of the “Chemin du Bornage 2022 series”, equines, commissions and fun artwork via Paard Verzameld Collective.

A Very Busy October!

October was full of horse shows and art shows …and in free time working on the atelier on new paintings.

I was thrilled to be selected by the Academy BIOTIAT for the 55th Grand Prix de Barbizon. I presented two of my equine art paintings. It was equally exciting to be selected as one of 33 artists to present at OFFCheval hors les murs in SAUMUR (my paintings are on display at Distillerie Combier until 30 November).

Meanwhile my CovidSkies series skyscapes were on display at Galerie Thuillier “Salon d’Automne” from 29 October - 11 November.

June 2021 Newsletter [French]

L'été est bien arrivé! Le monde commence à ré-ouvrir lentement … mais seul le temps nous le dira (croisons les doigts).

Des événements d’art  Depuis ma dernière exposition d'art en février 2021, je n'ai participé à aucune exposition compte tenu des changements de planning suite le confinement 3 en France. Mais entre temps, je me suis amusée à réaliser une vidéo pour une semaine Art PR « Takeover » sur Instagram en avril avec Agence Beatrice Martini PR (relations presse pour le Salon des Artistes Français). 

J'ai aussi eu un article de 4 pages dans le numéro de mai 2021 de Bit Magazine (Benelux), le plus grand magazine équestre dans la régionne. Je le partagerai le dès que le prochain numéro sortira.

Alors, quelle est la suite ? Il y a des expositions d'art à la Galerie 39 Barbizon (23 août – 5 septembre) et à Saint-Pierre-Les Nemours (27-29 août). Je suis également ravie de vous annoncer que j'ai été sélectionné par l'Académie Jacques BOITIAT pour participer au 55ème GRAND PRIX DE BARBIZON prévu le 9 octobre 2021. Récompenses récentes. . …

En avril 2021, j'étais finaliste du concours d'art international «Skies» de la Grey Cube Gallery Online avec mon premier tableau de la séries CovidSkies (No.1 Barbizon Sunset), qui a déjà été vendu.

À l’atelier…

J'ai récemment crée 2 nouvelles peintures de la série CovidSkies ("Turning Point" et "2020" à l'huile de 51x65cm). 3 nouvelles toiles sont en cours pour la fin du mois dont 2 sont d’un mètre donc ils prennent plus de temps. Il y a aussi d'autres tableaux en préparation, notamment 2 autres dans la série de CovidSkies et quelques commandes.

Quoi d’autre?

J'ai également été occupée avec le Paard Verzameld Collective :  participant à une Masterclass Caravaggio Clair Obscur (avril) et à quelques défis d’art (dont avril « Klimt - Patterns », dessin au crayon aquarelle ; et juin « Variations of One » monochrome avec panneau de toile). Chaque défi est basé sur un thème artistique avec le cheval comme un sujet et se termine en une semaine…. donc pas de temps à perdre ! J'ai également participé au Bit Magazine Concours pour la couverture du magasine (Benelux), l'huile sur panneau de toile pour laquelle ma pièce a été sélectionnée dans la liste finale et en attente des résultats.

C'est tout pour le moment. Passez un bel été et au plaisir de vous voir et montrer mes nouvelles œuvres aux expositions d'art en août.

Summer has arrived and it is hot! The world is starting to re-open slowly … only time will tell (fingers crossed).

Art events and publications… Since my last art show in February 2021, I have not participated in any shows given scheduling changes due to French confinement 3 in the Spring.  That being said, I had a fun time making a video for an Art PR “Takeover” week on Instagram in April with Beatrice Martini PR Agency (press relations for Salon des Artistes Francais).  I also had a 4 page feature in Bit Magazine May 2021 issue, the largest equestrian magazine serving the Benelux region. I will be sharing that shortly but need to wait until the next issue is released.

What next? Art shows at Galerie 39 Barbizon (23 Aug – 5 Sept) and Saint-Pierre-Les Nemours (27-29 Aug). I am also excited to announce that I have been selected by the Academie Jacques BOITIAT to participate in the 55th Grand Prix de Barbizon scheduled for 9 October 2021. More information to come along with other art events in the pipeline so stay tuned for updates on my website or Instagram/facebook.

Recent awards. …

In April 2021, CovidSkies series (No.1 Barbizon Sunset) was a finalist in the Grey Cube Gallery Online International “Skies” Art Competition and is now in its new home with a very happy client.

New in the atelier …

2 new paintings have been recently completed in the CovidSkies series (“Turning Point” and “2020” both 51x65cm oil paintings). 3 new paintings are due out by the end of June of which 2 are over 1meter so take more time. There are also other exciting paintings in the pipeline, in particular, 2 more in the CovidSkies series and a few commissions

What else?

As a patron member of Paard Verzameld Collective (international gallery dedicated to equine art), I have also been busy participating in a Caravaggio Clair Obscur Masterclass (April) and a couple art challenges (April “Klimt – Patterns”, watercolor pencil drawing; and June “Variations of One” Monochromatic art challenge with an oil sketch on canvas panel). Each challenge is based on an art theme with an equine reference and is completed in one week ….so no time to waste! I also participated in the Bit Magazine Cover Competition, Benelux with an oil sketch on canvas panel for which my piece was one selected to the final list and currently waiting for the results.

Mars 2021 Newsletter [French]

Bonjour ! On commence de voir les jonquilles partout. Quel bonheur, le printemps arrive bientot.

Les évènements passés…

Pendant hiver, j’ai travaillé dans l'atelier (lorsque je ne monte pas à cheval). J'ai aussi eu le plaisir d'une exposition d'art avec Dominique JALLON (céramiste) et Cédric MION (photographe) à la Galerie 39, Barbizon pendant les vacances scolaires du 15 au 28 février avec de nombreux visiteurs et des temps magnifique. L'une de mes nouvelles peintures à l’huile de la série 2021 de « Covid Skies » a trouvé un nouveau foyer pour toujours et la démonstration artistique quotidienne en direct a été un succès, surtout auprès des enfants. 

Des nouvelles toiles et à venir…

Depuis l’exposition d’art, je suis à l'atelier.  Je viens de terminer la peinture à l’huile «Ciel d’hiver, Barbizon» 51 x 65 cm. En plus, il y a trois autres nouvelles peintures en cours dans le cadre de mes deux séries de peintures à l’huile 2021, «Covid Skies» et «Equine head studies». Les nouvelles peintures sont prévues pour l'exposition d'art au « Salon du Printemps » à Galerie Thuillier, 75003 Paris du 16 au 29 avril.

Quelque chose de nouveau!..

En tant que membre du collectif Paard Verzameld (galerie internationale dédiée à l'art équin), j'ai participé au défi artistique de mars sur le thème "éthéré". Comme il y avait une semaine pour le faire, j’ai mis à coté mes pinceaux à l’huile pour des crayons d'aquarelle et j'ai VRAIMENT apprécié ! J’ai fait une petite création de 22x29cm, "Passing Seasons", inspirée par mes promenades matinales d'automne dans la forêt de Fontainebleau.

Les Recent events…

I spent the winter working in the workshop (when I am not riding a horse). I also had the pleasure of an art exhibition with Dominique JALLON (ceramist) and Cédric MION (photographer) at Galerie 39, Barbizon during the school holidays from February 15 to 28 with many visitors and magnificent weather. One of my new oil paintings from the 2021 series of "Covid Skies" found a new home forever and the daily live art demonstration was a hit, especially with the children.

Des nouvelles New paintings and things to come...

I am currently back in the atelier. I have just wrapped up “Ciel d’hiver, Barbizon” 51 x 65cm oil painting. I also havethree other new paintings in the pipeline as part of my two 2021 series of oil paintings, “Covid Skies” and “Equine head studies”. The new paintings will be presented at “Le Salon du Printemp|” at Galerie Thuillier, Paris 75003 from 16 to 29 April.

Something new!

As a patron member of Paard Verzameld Collective (international gallery dedicated to equine art), I participated in the March art challenge based on a theme “ethereal”. Given there was a week to complete the challenge, I put aside my oil paint materials for watercolor pencils and LOVED working with them!  I completed a little 22x29cm piece, “Passing Seasons”, inspired by my autumn morning walks in the Fontainebleau forest. 

Planning for upcoming art events is not completely clear as of yet given the constraints with Covid but meanwhile I continue to work in art atelier. 😊 🎨

“Le Belvédère” is a wrap

“Le Belvedere”, 73 x 60cm, oils on linen

[🇺🇸]  “Le Belvédère” is finished. I have walked down Rue de Belvedere (Gordes) so many times. I cannot count how many photos I have taken coming down that path: the colors and the perspective are always different especially across the four seasons. It is called the Rue de Belvedere for good reason with a beautiful scenic view of the Luberon mountain range in the distance: not visible in this scene but it will surely pop up in some future painting that I do!

Confinement brings new artistic inspiration and, for this painting, some punchy yet delicate colors to feed the palette.

[🇫🇷] Un nouveau tableau est sortie, « Le Belvédère ». J’ai marché dans la Rue de Belvédère (Gordes) tellement de fois. Je ne peux pas compter le nombre de photos que j'ai prises en descendant ce chemin: les couleurs et la perspective sont toujours différentes surtout au fil des quatre saisons. Elle s'appelle la Rue de Belvédère pour une bonne raison avec une belle vue panoramique sur la chaîne du Luberon au loin: non visible dans cette scène mais elle apparaîtra sûrement dans une future peinture!

Le confinement apporte une nouvelle inspiration artistique et, pour ce tableau, des couleurs sont puissantes mais avec des nuances délicates pour nourrir la palette.

« Sun is Shining » is a wrap

I felt like a change up…. to do something different with my new easel (which is a dream and now I can paint with full confidence that it will not crash down like my old trusty tripod easel – handy but can’t support the bigger canvases !). 

My daughter wanted another portrait ….2 years on from my first one I painting of her. This time with our Portuguese Water Dog, Mountainhead’s Marlowe. This was something that I pulled together based on an idea I had in my head and taking a series of photos last summer at the stables under the beautiful summer sun in Barbizon. 

 « Sun is Shining » is a 65x50cm oils on linen painting…named by my daughter. It will be displayed at Salon d’Art Animalier (29/2-8/3) at Saint-Pierre-Les-Nemours.

“Winter Light, Gordes”

“Winter Light, Gordes” 81x65cm oils on linen painting is finished. First of 2020. Started it in 2019 to do something a bit different with my favorite village to capture a typical impression when we were there during winter with the cooler light set off by the deep blue sky. I never got around to finishing it because of other more immediate paintings to do/finish so finally found the time now to put on the final touches. It is nice to change it up from time to time to capture special moments amongst nature …and without a horse in it!

“Running the Pattern” finished

New 100x81 cm oils on linen painting finished and will be on display at the Salon International Animal Art Paris 2019 at Hippodrome d’Auteuil from 15-17 Nov 2019 (vernissage Thurs 14 Nov from 5-10pm).  It was inspired by attending the international horse reining competition at Bo Ranch (La Chappelle La Reine), capturing Wimpys Little Chees running the pattern in the new state-of-the-art indoor ring. There was so much movement to play with through color and under the sunlight coming through the roof of the arena that created a magical gold mist trailing the galloping horse that I wanted to capture on canvas.

“Reining Spin v. 2019” finished

New 100x80 cm oils on linen painting finished with a focus on the Reining spin. A very technical move that demonstrates the power, grace and precision of the American Quarter Horse. Thank you Julie Allaume Photography for the use of your lovely photo. Looking forward to displaying it from 28 Aug - 10 Sept at Galerie 39 (Barbizon, France) and 10-15 Sept at the International Reining Competition being held at Bo Ranch (La Chapelle La Reine, France), which inspired the background of this painting.

"Stop v. 2019" finished

Excited about the new painting just finished as it was a change in focus…painting a subject in a different high-powered equestrian discipline, Reining, in advance of some exciting upcoming art expositions. This is an 100x73cm oils on linen painting of Wimpys Little Colonel. Thank you Cam Essick for the use of the stunning reference photo capturing the 2009 Quarter Horse Stallion / 2013 NRBC Reserve Champion performing the reining sliding stop.  An amazing movement portrayed with an intense splash of color and play on light.

Acardi du Houssoit Z finished

With end of school year and horse shows had little time so a bit behind. Very excited to have finished “Acardi du Houssoit Z” 100x80cm oils on linen painting, which was on show as a “draft” at the June 2019 Masterpro Horse Show at Fontainebleau. I love this size canvas as have more freedom to use color and light with brushwork to bring out the movement. I wanted to to capture the surge / power clearing a wide 1.60 meter height over through light and colour. White is never white. Inspired by a Ben Radvanyi photo.

Commission finished: off to US

This is a large format 100x80cm oils on linen portrait / commissioned painting just finished for a US client. Loved painting the Scottish landscape and wild clouds. This is a snip-it of the original painting. It was a bit of a challenge to get the photo of the painting to capture fully the colors and the contrasting lights / darks.  A full view of the painting can be found on my website under "Gallery/ Fresh off the easel".

Portrait finished : Fontainebleau series

Thrilled to finish my next oil painting. It is to be part of my Fontainebleau series of oil paintings on location at the Grand Parquet. Fontainebleau, which hosts both national and international horse shows each year, is a beautiful setting to capture equine moments. This is a portrait of Bowie de la Mure ridden by my daughter on the Petit Parquet in 2018 based on a personal photo. I wanted to capture Bowie’s beautiful movement dancing across the Petit Parquet before the clear round performance. The painting also depicts Le Petit Parquet grass footing: a decision was taken in 2018 to convert Le Petit Parquet to sand footing for the 2019 show season. The painting will be on display at the Jump Bost horse show (Barbizon) 16-17 March.
